From the Apollo program to today, every manned U.S. space mission has relied on UTC Power fuel cells to safely and reliably power its success. UTC Power designed, developed, and continues to produce the fuel cell power plants for NASA's Space Shuttle Orbiter and is working with NASA and aerospace companies to evaluate fuel cells for future applications. 
| Our pioneering work with fuel cells for space flights came much earlier when we developed fuel cells for NASA's Apollo moon missions. Fuel cells are critically important to manned space missions. Their high-energy density – a factor of five better than batteries – reduces launch weight, and the H2O they generate provides drinking and cooling water for the spacecraft. |  | We also have experience in numerous other defense applications.
