| East Hartford High School Makes an Educated Decision with the PureComfort™ Solution
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (Nov. 11, 2005) – East Hartford High School has chosen UTC Power's PureComfort™ power solution to provide on-site power as well as chilled water and heating. UTC Power, a company of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) is the world leader in development and production of clean, energy-efficient combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) systems and fuel cell power plants.
The PureComfort™ system replaces an existing co-generation unit and an absorption chiller and will enable the high school to double as an emergency shelter by meeting a requirement to have an on-site power source capable of grid-independent operation in case of a local outage. The PureComfort™ power solution provides this required capability to provide off-grid, back-up power for the facility in an environmentally sound manner.
"We are pleased to be providing East Hartford High School with a reliable, economic environmental solution that delivers power, heating and cooling," said UTC Power President Jan van Dokkum. "Our innovative, integrated PureComfort™ solution meets the immediate needs of the high school for assured, efficient power, cooling and heating and also will benefit the community if there is a loss of local grid power."
The project is being developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy.
