UTC Fuel Cell Powers News Corp’s NY Headquarters

A PureCell system at the News Corporation headquarters in New York City now provides hot water and a significant portion of electricity needs for TV studios, while reducing the building’s carbon emissions.

Vijay Sudan, director of News Corp. Global Energy Initiative, says the fuel cell brings the company closer to achieving its long-term vision: growing the business without growing its carbon footprint. The initiative was set in 2007 with the goal to reach their vision by 2015.

The fuel cell produces enough energy to power 400 average homes, while preventing the release of more than 675 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually and saving up to 4.2 million gallons of water annually.
